Sparkbrook Children’s Zone, also known as SCZ, is where children and young people living in the Sparkbrook area can access appointments with a GP and Family Support, all in one building.

We run weekly clinics for children and young people up to their 16th birthday who are registered with Balsall Heath Health Centre, Dr Walji, First Care, Fernley Medical Centre, The Hill General Practice, Highgate Medical Centre, The Brook Surgery, St George’s Surgery and Springfield Medical Practice.

We enjoy seeing all young people and can help with most health issues that are usually discussed with GPs – such as coughs, tummy pain, growth concerns, fever, headaches, baby issues, eczema, etc. The patient will see a doctor from our team, who is either a GP or a children’s doctor. We will talk to the patients and parents about concerns, ask further questions about things that impact children’s health (e.g., growth, eating, vaccinations, and smoke exposure), and examine the patient.  We support children in living happy and healthy lives.

Families can also access family support as part of SCZ. This is staffed by family advice workers from Green Square Accord’s Hall Green Families team. We are professionals working to support children, young people and their families with a range of needs such as food and energy, domestic abuse, debt advice and more.

Supporting children with health care and family advice allows children to reach their potential.
